Background of study: Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) or sometime called Chronic diseases, are often long-lasting and caused by a confluence of behavioural, physiological, environmental, and genetic factors. This study entitled “Study to assess the knowledge regarding noncommunicable diseases and their preventive measures among adults in selected urban areas at Gonda, Uttar Pradesh.” Aims and objectives: The objectives are to assess the knowledge regarding noncommunicable diseases and their preventive measures among adults in selected urban areas, to associate the knowledge level with sociodemographic variables. Design and setting: Descriptive community-based survey was done. Methods and materials: 60 samples were selected by convenient sampling technique. A structured knowledge questionnaire was utilized to assess the knowledge of the adults. Results: It revealed that adults those who participated in this study are moderate knowledge about noncommunicable diseases and their prevention. Knowledge level was associated with demographic variable like Source of information and other demographic variables are not associated. Conclusion: This indicated that the community awareness Programmeshould be conducted with various mass media and it will be effective in improving the people knowledge about noncommunicable diseases as this is one of the ways to reduce the burden of our country.
