I’m Dr. Divya Shanthi D’Sa, a professor of Anatomy with a passion for unravelling the complexities of the human body and imparting that knowledge to the next generation of healthcare professionals. I am currently working at Subbaiah Institute of Medical Sciences, Shimoga, Karnataka. My journey in the field of anatomy began over two decades ago, driven by an insatiable curiosity about how our bodies function and a deep respect for the intricate design of the human form. I earned my MD. in Anatomy from Shimoga Institute of Medical Sciences, Shimoga affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching at several esteemed institutions, honing my teaching philosophy to emphasize active learning and critical thinking. My approach to teaching anatomy is deeply rooted in the belief that a strong foundational understanding of the human body is essential for all medical professionals, whether they are future surgeons, physical therapists, or researchers. In my classes, I strive to create an engaging and supportive environment where students are encouraged to explore the material beyond the textbooks. I integrate various teaching methods, including hands-on dissections, 3D modelling, and interactive digital tools, to cater to different learning styles. My goal is to make the study of anatomy not just informative but also inspiring, highlighting the relevance of anatomical knowledge in clinical practice and research. Outside of the classroom, my research interests lie especially in the impact of anatomical variations on surgical outcomes, and I actively collaborate with colleagues to push the boundaries of our understanding. I am also committed to mentoring students, guiding them in their academic and professional journeys, and fostering a curiosity-driven approach to learning.
