Background and objective: The purpose of the study was to assess the knowledge on prevention and management of acute respiratory tract infection among mothers of under five children, attending Paediatric medical OPD of Jipmer, Puducherry. Material and Methods: A cross sectional design was used in the study. Convenience sampling technique was used to select 100 samples. Structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to summarise the data. Results: Only 5% of mothers had adequate knowledge. 48% had inadequate knowledge and 47% had moderately adequate knowledge. Conclusion: The study concluded that adequate health education is needed for mothers and this will help to reduce morbidity and mortality among children.
