Abstract

Background: In the present years, the age at which parents start and finish toilet training their children has increased. To cope with the problems caused by this later completion, it is essential to raise the knowledge of mothers of toddlers regarding toilet training.

Objectives: (1) To assess the pre-test knowledge score regarding toilet training among mothers of toddlers. (2) To assess the post-test knowledge score regarding toilet training among mothers of toddlers. (3) To compare the pre-test and post-test knowledge scores regarding toilet training among mothers of toddlers. (4) To find out the association between knowledge scores regarding toilet training among mothers of toddlers with the selected demographic variables.

Methodology: Quantitative Quasi-experimental one-group pre-test post-test research design was selected to conduct the study. 70 mothers of toddlers were selected as samples based on exclusion and inclusion criteria through a non-probability purposive sampling technique.

Results: The mean pre-test knowledge of mothers of toddlers was 11.08 ± 1.73, whereas the mean post-test knowledge of mothers of toddlers was 16.64 ± 1.03. The findings revealed that the pamphlet was statistically effective (t = 22.63* p-value 0.0001*) and the association between post-test knowledge and selected demographic variables of toddlers such as age in years (f = 3.50, p-value 0.03*) and number of children (f = 4.37, p-value 0.01*) were statistically significant.

Conclusion: The pamphlet helped the mothers of toddlers to increase their knowledge regarding Toilet Training of Children.
