Abstract

Scientometric Studyis beneficial for  librarians and managers of  information centers in identifying  the use of periodical  literature. The paper analyse the articles as reflected through PubMed database for the year 2003 to 2014 to investigate the trend in  the growth of literature on Bacterial Meningitis. The results of the study reveals that , the value of an average RGR of articles Rt(P) increased gradually from 0.72to 2.26 (2003 to 2013) and there is drameticallyincreased in the year 2014(2.56). The mean relative growth Rt(P) for the first 6 years (2003- 2008) indicates a growth rate of 2.08 years and in the next6 years (2009 - 2014) it was increased 4.39 years. The R2 value for the linear trend (0.2951) is more than that of exponential trend (0.3023), which indicates that the exponential trend is more suitably fit to as compared to linear trend.
