Many medical professionals are doing wonderful, dedicated, and admirable work. Research and technological developments have enhanced medical capabilities to help patients manifold.   However, the existing medical professionals are unhappy in the profession and the youngsters are shying away from this profession. The solution to violence is unraveled in this book. It is Beyond Medicine. The key to this solution is in the A to E for the medical professionals. Our education system from childhood was informative.  This led to a lack of motivation among youngsters.  Medical education in the past heavily relied upon giving the medical knowledge, skills, and experience to the medical trainees. Many other skills beyond these determine the success of the medical professionals. The new competency-based medical curriculum tries to address these lacunae.  This book defines these skills and the ways to obtain them.  Currently, there is a severe paucity of such books to help medical professionals beyond the scope of medicine. All 54 competencies of AETCOM module are well covered in this book.

The authors are experts in the field of communication skills and personality development of the medical trainees. Dr. Kalidas Chavan did his Ph.D. on the role of communication skills in improving the Doctor-Patient relationship. Dr. Sandeep Mane conducted communication skills training in the UK for international doctors coming to the UK for training. He was in charge of the practical skills training at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London. In association with the MUHS, he conducted the “Susanwaad Abhiyaan” across Maharashtra to offer communication skills training to the trainees. Dr. Sunil Thitame is working in the field of communication skills in public health for the last five years. He has participated as a lead trainer in the workshops on Communication Skills for the postgraduate students. He has done extensive work on the role of communication skills in health care delivery and published the research articles in reputed journals.

M.B.B.S., M.D. (Forensic Medicine), Ph.D.
Prof. Dr. Kalidas D. Chavan is presently working as Registrar at the MUHS, Nashik. He was the former Controller of Examinations, at MUHS Nashik. He did M.B.B.S. from S.R.T.R. Medical College, Ambajogai and M.D. (Forensic Medicine) from Govt. Medical College, Aurangabad, Ph.D from Tilak Maharashtra University, Pune. He is Recognized Guide for PG and Ph.D. studies. He has trained and had been a guide to many Postgraduate & Ph.D. students. He is life member of Indian Academy of Forensic Medicine and former President of Medico-legal Association of Maharashtra. He had published about 42 Research Papers in International, National and State Journals. He has more than
15 years of Teaching and 10 years of Administrative experience in Government and Private Medical Colleges/ University. He held various academic positions in MUHS, Nashik, PIMS (DU), Loni, RGUHS, Bangaluru. He is always in the forefront in organizing and conducting academic CMEs, Workshops and various Conferences.

Sandeep Vishwas Mane

Dr Sandeep Mane obtained advanced fertility and endoscopic surgery skills and qualified to become a consultant in the UK. He underwent training at Birmingham Women's Hospital, University Hospital, Cardiff and University College London Hospitals, during his 12 years of training in the UK. He was In-Charge of the surgical skills training at the Royal College, London. He taught communication skills to numerous doctors from all over the world. He returned to India and established the Origin
International Fertility Centre at Thane, where he is the Director. This center has successfully treated worldwide couples from over 20 countries. His special achievements include the first Laparoscopic Cervical stitch in India, pregnancy at 55 years age and BBC News coverage for his extraordinary work.

Dr Mane is the President of the Origin Foundation, a charitable organization, formed to help the society by teaching Communication Skills. He conducted the "Susanwaad Abhiyaan" for Communication Skills Training of the medical students and resident doctors in all the government medical colleges across Maharashtra. The MUHS appointed him as a Coordinator to develop communication and practical skills across the entire state of Maharashtra. According to him, the future of humanity depends on good communication.

Dr. Sunil Namdeo Thitame,
Ph.D.
Dr. Sunil Thitame is presently working as an Asst. Professor and Coordinator for Academics and Research at Centre for Social Medicine, Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, Deemed to be University, Loni, Ahmednagar, MS. He draws his broad expertise from the field of Environmental Science and Public Health. His current areas of interest are Environmental Health, Public Health as well as Quality Assurance in Academics, Research and Academic Administration. He has 14 years of experience in academics, research and implementation of interventional projects. He is a member of Board of studies and Academic Council of the University. He has a number of publications in national and international scientific journals to his credit.
