The present study conducted on degree college libraries of Allahabad City to explore the extent of Human Resource Management (HRM) usually practiced by them. This study is an attempt to identify the present status of human resource management pattern along with services provided by college libraries of Allahabad City, and recommended some suggestions regarding the development of library human resource structure. The Study based on primary as well as secondary information and data has been collected by using questionnaire and on the basis of interview method. The finding of the study shows that the structure of college library personnel is insufficient to maintain a modern library system.

A blog provides a quick and simple way to post content online that is available anywhere there is access to the Internet. Blogs devoted to a certain topic, system, or product are a very interesting way to learn more about the subject, share tips, find out what people think, learn about new developments or describe research in that area. The creation of Library blogs have real potential for promoting library services to the targeted community. This paper outlines the concept of blogs in general, available tools, the concept of library blogs, steps involved in creating a library blogs with its advantages.

This study analyses the Indian author’s contribution to International conference on Scientometrics/Bibliometrics & Informetrics from 5th conference 1995 to 12th conference 2009. The above mentioned conferences have been organized by The International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI).  The study investigates the development of Scientometrics / Bibliometrics research in India.  Scientometrics / Bibliometrics research performance are measured and compared with previous conferences and measured the growth rate in the area of Scientometrics / Bibliometrics research. Out of eight conferences held, the Indian authors’ contribution is more in the 8th conference.

The present study aimed to investigate the LIS professionals’ level of satisfaction about the personal benefits  in the libraries of higher academic institutes of unified Dakshina Kannada District of Karnataka State. The libraries selected for the study are higher academic institutes that are providing university education in medicine, engineering, arts, commerce, science, management, law, hotel management, and paramedical courses. The sample population of the study is the professionally qualified LIS professionals who are working in the graduate and higher academic setups of the undivided Dakshina Kannada District. The study used survey method to explore the level of satisfaction of the LIS professional working in the various education institutes. The study identified 124 professionally qualified LIS staff in higher education and responses were collected from them. About 77 responses were received.  The study revealed the fact that the LIS  professionals are  dissatisfied with  the Personal Benefit provided by the authority of the respective education institutes of higher learning. Professionals are frustrated by the lack of promotion chances which would open new career opportunities. The authorities have to support career paths and provide better opportunities for the promotion and better pay/salary to the professionals.

This paper presents a Bibliometric study of the literature output in the field of herbal literature covered in Biological Abstracts CD-ROM from 1990-2004. Biological Abstracts CD-ROM covered the maximum of 3401 records on herbal literature during the study period 1990 to 2004.  India ranks first in the herbal research literature output.  Herbal research literature output is found to be in 22 different languages of which English ranks first forming 86.15 per cent of the total output.  Journal articles rank first forming 92.15 per cent of the total output with 3134 items.  “Journal-of-Medicinal-and-Aromatic-Plant-Sciences” scores the first rank having produced 13.91 per cent of the total Herbal research literature output.  The result of research invalidated   Bradford’s Law of distribution.   The majority of the Herbal research is carried out by Research Institutions.  Herbal literature published in different languages from various countries ranged   from less than 10 pages up to 200 pages.

Preservation of digital information is widely considered to require more constant and ongoing attention than preservation of other media. A library is an organization. The organization of libraries is already changing as electronic information increasingly becomes part of their charge. Digital imaging technology offers distinctive advantages to institutions with impressive collections of scholarly resources. Information content can be delivered directly to the reader without human intervention by readers remotely, although such delivery may tax the capabilities of even the most sophisticated projection equipment and networks. This article explains the different types of digital resources in general and digital preservation in particular based on the user’s benefits.
