Pott’s spine is one of the oldest demonstrated diseases of humankind, having been documented in spinal remains from the Iron Age in Europe and in ancient mummies from Egypt and the Pacific coast of South America. In 1779, Percivall Pott, for whom the disease is named, presented the classic description of spinal tuberculosis. The spine is the most frequent location of musculoskeletal tuberculosis, and it is the most debilitating form of tuberculosis of spine. Pott’s spine is also known as spinal tuberculosis or tuberculous spondylitis (Fig. 1). The main characteristic symptoms are severely curved spinal deformity, back pain and lower limb weakness / paraplegia.

The present study highlights the need to “A study to assess the knowledge regarding selected organs donation among healthcare professionals and non-healthcare professionals in selected areas at Ahmadabad.” 60 (30- healthcare professionals and 30 non healthcare professionals) samples were selected by convenience sampling technique. Data was collected using self structured questionnaire assessing the knowledge. The data was analysed and interpreted by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Majority (90%) of the healthcare professionals had average knowledge, 10% of them had good knowledge 100% of the healthcare professionals.

A Quasi Experimental study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching method with those attending classrooms teaching method in terms of knowledge regarding ECG among third year and fourth year nursing students in selected colleges of nursing Ahmadabad Gujarat”. The main objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching method with those attending classrooms teaching method in terms of knowledge regarding ECG among third year and fourth year nursing students in selected colleges of nursing Ahmadabad Gujarat”. The ‘General System Model’ adopted from Ludwig Von Bertalanaffy was used as the conceptual framework. A quantitative approach with comparative study design with quasi experimental approach was used to achieve the objectives of the study. The samples consisted of 60 third year and fourth year B.Sc Nursing students in selected colleges of Nursing. The Simple random sampling technique was used to collect the sample. A structured questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge regarding ECG among the students. The tool was validated by the experts. Cronbach alpha was used to establish the reliability of the tools. The tool was found to be valid and reliable. Data gathered was analyzed and interpreted using both descriptive and inferential statistic. The study shows that the majority (100%) were in the age group of 18-20 years in both group I and II. In group I, 1% were male and 99% were female and in group II, majority (100%) were female. In the classroom teaching method the majority (60%) of the students had average knowledge and in the video assisted teaching method majority (100%) of the students had good knowledge on ECG. The post test mean score of group I was 28 + 2.46 with the mean percentage of 66.67% after the classroom teaching and the post test mean score group II were 39.23 + 1.41 with the mean percentage of 93.41% after the video assisted teaching method. The calculated t-value was higher than the table value (t59=2.00, p<0.05). hence the null hypothesis was rejected. So it is inferred that the present study, there was significant difference between the post test score after classroom teaching method and video assisted teaching method on ECG among second and third year B.Sc. Nursing students. Therefore it can be concluded that the video assisted teaching method was effective. Based on the finding the following recommendations were proposed for future research: Similar study can be replicated on a large sample with similar baseline characteristics. A similar study can be replicated in more than one college of Nursing.

Context: Menopause is an important reproductive milestone in a woman’s life which brings a number of physiological changes that affects their day to day adjustments. Aims: Determine the effectiveness of computer assisted teaching on level of knowledge on menopause among women residing at selected rural community, Amritsar. Methods and material: The research design was true experimental i.e. Randomized controlled trial design. Double blind study was done among women aged 40-55years residing at Tarsika rural community at Amritsar, Punjab. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 300 samples (150 as control & 150 as experimental group). The tool used was structured knowledge questionnaire. Computer assisted teaching was given to the study group immediately after pretest. Posttest I and II was conducted after one month and third month respectively. Statistical analysis used: Collected data were coded, tabulated and analysed by descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The study findings revealed that in control group, majority of women (66%, 73.3% and 78%) had inadequate knowledge during pretest, posttest-I and posttest-II respectively where as in study group, majority of women (93.3%) had inadequate knowledge during pretest but in posttest-I and II, after computer assisted teaching majority of women were having adequate knowledge (47.3% and 81.3%) in study group. This indicates improved knowledge level following computer assisted teaching. Conclusions: Based on statistical findings the provision of computer assisted teaching has increased the knowledge on menopause among women aged 40-55 years. Thus women living in rural communities need to educate regarding health and wellbeing during menopausal transition.

The main objectives of the study were to assess the effects of social networking sites on the academic performance of students of selected colleges of Ahmedabad, Gujarat and to identify the association between the effects of social networking sites and selected variables like age and gender. The ‘General System Model’ adopted from Ludwig Von Bertalanaffy was used as the conceptual frame work. A quantitative approach with descriptive study design was used to achieve the objectives of the study. The samples consisted of 120 students of selected colleges of Ahmedabad. The simple random sampling technique was use to collect the sample. A Likert scale was used to assess the knowledge regarding effects of social networking sites among college students. The tool was validated by the experts. Cronbach alpha was used to establish the reliability of tools. The tool was found to be valid and reliable. Data gathered was analysed and interpreted using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study shows that the majority were in the age group of 18-20 years. Males were 55 and females were in 65. The study showed that the majority of college students had good effects of social networking sites that is 93%. There was no significant association between effects of social networking sites and selected variables that is age and gender. Based on the findings the following recommendations were proposed for the future research: A similar study can be replicated on a large sample with the similar baseline characteristics, in more than one college of Nursing and Comparative study may be done on effects of social networking sites: In college going students and school going students and between inter states.
