About


Dr. Shital Chopde achieved remarkable accomplishments throughout her academic journey. As a meritorious student, she secured the highest CGPA at the B.V.Sc. & A.H. examination, earning several prestigious medals. She obtained a first-class distinction in M. V. Sc. (Animal Nutrition) and later completed her Ph. D. from Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai in 2008.  Dr.Chopde's skills and knowledge earned her the 1stMerit position selected by Maharashtra Public Service Commission for Livestock Development officer, Gr – A in 2006. However, driven by her passion for academia, Dr.Chopde joined MAFSU, Nagpur initially as a Technical Officer and then as an Assistant Professor of Animal Nutrition at Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur. She mentors students with engaging lectures, hands-on training sessions, and research guidance. Her scholarly endeavours include numerous publications, TV and radio talks and research papers.Beyond academia, Dr.Chopde is dedicated to empowering women, youth and livestock keepers through various demonstrations and extension activitieson feeding management techniques andanimal husbandry practices. Dr.Chopde was awarded an International Travel Grant for the Young Scientist Award at the World Poultry Congress 2008 in Brisbane, Australia. Her commitment to continuous learning is highlighted by her selection for One Month Faculty International Training Programme on "Nutritional Immunology in Monogastric Animals" at the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA in 2023. She is working as an Associate NCC Officer at 1 Mah R & V Sqn. NCC Nagpur Veterinary College. Her remarkable achievements include completing the Pre-commission (PRCN) course at Officers Training Academy, where she earned the Commandant's Certificate and Silver Medal for Excellence. Amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, her exceptional service earned her an Appreciation Award.Additionally, she shoulders the responsibility of Hostel Warden at Girls Hostel, fostering a supportive environment for the growth and development of female students. She has been appointed to prestigious roles by esteemed national organizations such as CCSEA and VCI, where she contributes her expertise toInstitutional Animal Ethics Committees and inspection duties. She has earned many awards including membership of National Academy of Veterinary Sciences (India).
