Introduction


Dr. Amit Soni is presently Assistant Professor in Faculty and Department of Tribal Studies, Art, Culture and Folk Literature in Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh. He did Masters (M.A.) in Anthropology and Tribal Development and Masters (M.A.) in Museology. He has qualified UGC-NET in both the subjects. He did his Ph.D. on the topic “Baiga Culture: An Anthropo-Museological Study”. Before joining the University he has worked in Anthropological Survey of India, Tribal Research and Training Institute (Raipur) and Sangeet Natak Akademi (New Delhi) in various capacities. He has wide experience of working in museums and exhibition projects in various parts of India along with Anthropological research, especially in tribal arena. He has a good number of published articles (37 nos.) in various book and reputed journals and a book entitled “Baiga – A Visual Ethnography” in his account. He has presented various research papers on national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. He has also worked as Vice-President of Museums Association of India and member of editorial board of few reputed journals.
