Dr Singh received his postgraduate degree in forensic science with specialization in toxicology from the Dr H.S.G. University, Sagar in 1991 and his Ph.D. in Forensic Medicine and Toxicology from Institute of Medical Science, BHU, Varanasi in 1997. He has begun his academic carrier as post doctoral (Research Associate) in the department of forensic medicine and toxicology at AIIMS, New Delhi. He served various premium medical institutions including AIIMS- New Delhi, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal and Rural Medical College, Loni at various capacity. Presently he is working as Sr. Toxicologist in the department of forensic medicine & toxicology of Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences an Autonomous Government Institution of Jharkhnad, Ranchi since 2009. Dr Singh has a wide exposure to visit different countries as a visiting professor in the area of forensic toxicology. He is teaching toxicology and various aspects of forensic sciences to the medical students since March 1992.

He provides toxicological evaluations and advice to treating physicians involving intentional and non- intentional exposures of organic & inorganic chemicals, petroleum product, alcohol ingestion, poisons involved in suicides, homicides, and drugs of abuse in civil and criminal litigation. Toxic exposure investigations include analytical protocol, referral of autopsy material for analyses, environmental and occupational health risk assessments, and site assessment and causation determination.

Dr. Singh is a member of the various national and international societies i.e. Society of Toxicology-India, Indian Medico-legal Expert Association-Delhi, Indian Science Congress Association-Kolkata, Indian Society of Toxicology-Kochi, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists. He has given numerous presentations and chaired scientific session in various national and international conferences and seminar.

He has authored and co-authored several scientific papers and articles for both peer-reviewed and popular publications and has served as a reviewer for several national and international Journals. He is currently the Editor in Chief of the Indian Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology and Executive Member of National Editorial Board, Indian Society of Toxicology.
